An end to a 20-year era in Florida
I'm wrapping up my stay in Jupiter, Fla. We've been here since Dec. 7 and enjoyed every moment. And, unfortunately, it is our last excursion down here. We have been coming here for 21 years and it was a difficult decision to make especially since the weather up there was so horrible this year.
But due to my husband's bad eyesight we can no longer do many of the things we used to enjoy.
Fortunately we sold our place quickly and close on the property April 12 and return home April 13. I'll jump back into writing my Inside Saratoga column soon after.
One thing we could still do was go out to eat. And we have several favorite places. Nick's Tomatoe Pie on Indiantown Road tops our list. The unique Italian restaurant is not only known for its incredible fare, but for its unique decor.
The owner Nick and bartendar Tony have been to Saratoga Race Course many times and love our city restaurants, as well.
Portobello restaurant, also Italian fare, on U.S. 1, is a classy place. Juno Beach Fish House, also on U.S. 1, has the best 2-lb. lobster and a great price. And for casual dining that can't be beat is Duffy's. It is a sports bar - located in several locations - that has the best variety of food and offers customers a MVP dining card that provides points toward future visits. Unique idea.
So there it is a roundup of our favorite dining places in case anyone comes here for a winter visit.
In the meantime we are gathering what we will bring back north. We sold our condo on the golfcourse fully furnished save our personal items.
The name of this column is "The Golden Years" and unfortunately there are decisions to make that are not always to our liking. But we have been fortunate enough to enjoy many winters down here and now will go back to doing what we did for many, many more years put up with the cold and stormy winters in the Northeast.
